DESCRIPTION

Also known as MET18_HUMAN, METTL18, ASTP2, C1orf156. Protein-L-histidine N-tele-methyltransferase that specifically monomethylates RPL3 (PubMed:23349634, PubMed:33693809). Through the methylation of RPL3 regulates the dynamics of pre-rRNA processing, ribosome biogenesis, and translation (PubMed:33693809). Interacts with GRWD1 and members of the heat shock protein 90 and 70 families; these proteins may possibly be methylation substrates for the enzyme.
