Also known as FGF7_MOUSE, Fgf7, Fgf-7, Kgf. Plays an important role in the regulation of embryonic development, cell proliferation and cell differentiation. Required for normal branching morphogenesis. Growth factor active on keratinocytes. Possible major paracrine effector of normal epithelial cell proliferation (By similarity). Interacts with FGFBP1. Interacts with FGFR2. Affinity between fibroblast growth factors (FGFs) and their receptors is increased by heparan sulfate glycosaminoglycans that function as coreceptors (By similarity).
