DESCRIPTION

Also known as PTHC_ECOLI, srlA, gutA, sbl. The phosphoenolpyruvate-dependent sugar phosphotransferase system (PTS), a major carbohydrate active transport system, catalyzes the phosphorylation of incoming sugar substrates concomitant with their translocation across the cell membrane. The enzyme II complex composed of SrlA, SrlB and SrlE is involved in glucitol/sorbitol transport. It can also use D-mannitol.
