DESCRIPTION

Also known as CAN1_RAT, Capn1, Cls1. Calcium-regulated non-lysosomal thiol-protease which catalyzes limited proteolysis of substrates involved in cytoskeletal remodeling and signal transduction. Proteolytically cleaves CTBP1 at 'Asn-364', 'Gly-377' and 'His-399'. Forms a heterodimer with a small (regulatory) subunit CAPNS1.
