DESCRIPTION

Also known as VP2_BTV1V, Segment-2. The VP2 protein is one of the two proteins (with VP5) which constitute the virus particle outer capsid. It is the major target of the host immunogenic response. Responsible for viral attachment to target host cell, probably by binding to sialic acid. This attachment induces virion internalization predominantly through clathrin-dependent endocytosis (By similarity).
