Also known as RPOD_RHIEC, rpoD, sigA. Sigma factors are initiation factors that promote the attachment of RNA polymerase to specific initiation sites and are then released. This sigma factor is the primary sigma factor during exponential growth. The sigma-70 promoter consensus for this organism is 5'-CTTGAC-N(16-23)-TATNNT-3'. Interacts transiently with the RNA polymerase catalytic core.
