May mediate MHC class I-independent 'missing-self' recognition of allografts, tumor cells and virus-infected cells. Homodimer; disulfide-linked. Interacts with tyrosine kinase LCK. Binds PTPN6/SHP-1 in a phosphorylation-dependent manner.
