Also known as LOXA_PSEAE, loxA. Exhibits lipoxin synthase activity as part of a bacterial evasion strategy to suppress the host immune defense (PubMed:31474948). Oxygenates polyenoic fatty acids including eicosatrienoate and docosahexaenoate to the corresponding (n-6)S-hydroperoxy derivatives (PubMed:14766977, PubMed:27500637). In turn, this production of bioactive lipid mediators promotes bacterial persistence in host lung tissues by inhibiting the expression of major chemokines and recruitment of leukocytes (PubMed:31474948).
