DESCRIPTION

Also known as ZN410_HUMAN, ZNF410, APA1. Transcription factor that binds to the sequence motif 5'-CATCCCATAATA-3' in regulatory elements and modulates transcription of target genes (PubMed:12370286, PubMed:30078215, PubMed:33301730). Indirectly represses transcription of HBG1 and HBG2, hemoglobin subunits gamma-1 and gamma-2, in erythroid cells, via direct transcriptional activation of the chromodomain protein CHD4, a component of the NuRD complex (PubMed:33301730). Activates transcription of matrix-remodeling genes such as MMP1 during fibroblast senescence (PubMed:12370286). Activates transcription of the gap junction gene GJC1, perhaps in response to increasing glucose (PubMed:30078215). Interacts with CDKN2A/p14ARF.
